Interview with 2 Awesome Kids: The Lemonade Stand Story

Hey there, everyone! Today, we're talking to Kalani and Kainoa, the cool kids behind the lemonade stand that was a big hit in their local neighborhood. After deciding to host a lemonade stand over the summer, the boys were able to donate $126 to Community Storehouse, a local non-profit in the North Fort Worth area that does LOTS to support the community.  🍋

So, Kalani, how did you guys come up with the idea for your lemonade stand?

Kalani: "Well, Kainoa was talking about it with a friend, and I thought it would be a blast!"

That's awesome! Now, tell us, what kind of lemonade and treats did you have at your stand?

Kalani: "We had all sorts of lemonades like Capri Sun, Minute Maid, Country Time Lemonade, Simply Lemonade, Spryte Lymonade, and FRESH SQUEEZED Lemonade. Plus, we made these big blue and yellow Rice Krispie treats!"

Yum! Did you face any challenges while running your stand, Kainoa?

Kainoa: "Oh yeah, at the beginning, our sign kept blowing away in the wind, so we had to use more tape to keep it in place."

Quick thinking! And Kalani, can you share a cool moment from running your stand?

Kalani: "One day, a nice customer we didn't know stopped by during his lunch break to support us. That was really cool! And one time, one of my best friends came by and helped us hold our sign too. That was awesome!"

That sounds exciting! Now, you guys donated your earnings to charity. What made you decide to do that?

Kalani: “Because I feel like there are kids out there who need it a lot more than we do. I’m not saying we’re rich or anything but that we have enough.”

That's really kind of you. And why did you choose to donate to Community Storehouse?

Kainoa: "Our mom suggested it because they help kids who need stuff."

Great choice. Tell us, what do you love about your neighborhood, both of you?

Kainoa: "My best friend lives right across the street!"

Kalani: "And I love that we can easily meet up with friends at the pool and playground. The playground is super fun!"

Sounds like a great place to live! Now, what's a normal day like for you guys?

Kalani: "In the summer, we wake up, have breakfast, play with Legos, swim, play soccer, volleyball, ride our bikes, hang out with friends, and play fetch with our dog Teddy. Plus, we make sure to eat lunch and dinner."

That sounds like a fun-packed day! Any tips for other kids who want to do something cool like your lemonade stand?

Kalani: "Make it different! We had lots of kinds of lemonade and those colorful Rice Krispie treats."

Kainoa: "Yeah, being unique is fun!"

Thanks, Kalani and Kainoa, for sharing your fantastic adventure with us today. Keep up the great work, and we're cheering for you! 🍋🌟

After we finished chatting with Kalani and Kainoa, their Mom - Stephanie - shared a really cool social media post with us that Community Storehouse shared when the boys took their earnings down to donate to the organization. You can check that out HERE.
